So Jon got this to me at about 9pm last night. Cutting it a little close there Jonny boy.
As you can see we are working towards re-animation of our ‘heroes’ at this point. For right now we are building, building what will become the most EPIC WEB-COMIC STORY OF ALL TIME! or at least some pretty cool shiznit.
I’m not going to write to much here, but I will say that you should head over to our store and buy a book or two to support the sites.
And now a note from Mr. Anderson himself:
Serendipity: the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for; also : an instance of this
Beastipity: the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things when trying to cover ones own failings and short-comings
Nothing illustrates this better than today’s comic. With the better portion of a month to make this come together, as is my M.O. (Yes, John, feel free to make a ‘mo comment), I was indeed working on this until the last proverbial and literal minute last night, and it’s… ok.
This page introduces my first ever published CGI character..err characters.. err Med-Tech 1 and Med-Tech 2. you might think that MT1 and MT2 are the same character, and you’d be mostly right except that after a good three days of fighting to get the effect, MT2′s hair is actually a dark brown, his skin a little more olive, and his “halo” is not constrained to his head bone (yeah, there is something called that) so it appears to be, and actually is tilted.
the real coup in the whole process of this page though is the “sheets” covering the bodies. It is, coincidentally enough, called a cloth effect. It is an effect that I have been avoiding for a several years now, because the effect in an earlier version of the 3D program was unwieldy and time-consuming in a glacial sort of way. This latest version, while requiring a few quick tries, is vastly more effcient and easy to use. And I love the outcome. I had though that the character hair was going to be my triumph, but after so much trouble with the characters, it just looks like cheap doll hair in need of a good conditioning. The real hero of the day are the sheets that cover Garret and Alberto, which saved me from a potentially embarrassing screaming fit as i attempted to get every fat roll into place. Instead, I made some blobby Alberto and Garret shaped lumps.
This leaves me just in time to try and hobble together next weeks comic, which is serendipitously devoid of humanoid characters.
